Neighborhood Information - Tarpon Woods
 About two miles north of Tampa Road and across the street from Pinellas County’s biggest lake -- Lake Tarpon – is the golf course community of Tarpon Woods. A large, mature community at the heart of East Lake in Palm Harbor, Tarpon Woods is filled with shady oaks and borders the 8,500-acre Brooker Creek Preserve.
The development is made up of villas, condominiums, town homes, patio homes, lakefront properties and golf-course homes in about a dozen distinct neighborhoods. Each neighborhood has its own entrance and unique style. Many are gated for added privacy.
Tarpon Woods was built in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Larger homes are mostly ranch-style with updated kitchens, fireplaces, cathedral or vaulted ceilings, and custom built-in features. Living space in those homes ranges from 2,500 to 7,000 square feet.
You can enjoy marvelous golf course views from just about anywhere in Tarpon Woods because the subdivision surrounds Lost Oaks Golf Course and Tarpon Woods Country Club. The semi-private 18-hole course is available on a daily rate and has been a favorite for many locals and visitors for more than 30 years. Its Lane Marshall design offers a fun, yet challenging layout and a friendly atmosphere.
If you enjoy the outdoors, East Lake is the place to be! The Pinellas Trail is close by for walkers, bikers and runners. And, the YMCA of North Pinellas is within walking distance from Tarpon Woods (equipped with a gym, tennis courts and an Olympic-size swimming pool). John Chesnut Sr. Park is across the street, offering a convenient boat ramp on shimmering Lake Tarpon. |
